Can you spare one hour a week to help those who need it most?
When people are facing the end of life, they’re at their most scared and vulnerable. The friendly face and caring touch of a hospice volunteer can make all the difference in the world for these patients and their families.
McCortney Family Hospice in Norman is looking for warm, caring people of all ages to join our volunteer team. Volunteering with us takes only an hour a week and can easily be worked in around your regular schedule.
Some volunteer options include:
Visiting with patients at our area nursing homes and assisted living centers.
Sitting with patients in their homes, to give caregivers a break.
Helping with birthday parties, bingo, arts & crafts, etc. at area nursing homes.
Help families with light housekeeping or other one-time needs.
Help out in the office or provide bereavement support to families.
Making lap quilts, lap afghans or other craft projects for birthdays and holidays.
Sharing special skills like hair styling, massage therapy, pet therapy or playing a musical instrument.
If you're still reading this, chances are you possess that rare combination of kindness, compassion and strength that makes a great hospice volunteer. We need you, and we appreciate you!
