Volunteers are needed to provide mentoring activities for elementary and middle school aged youth who are displyaing inappropriate behaviors in school. If you would like to make a difference in the lives of youth and can volunteer approximately 4-6 hours a month please let us know. The Community Accountability Board (CAB) panels resolve school suspension and behavior issues with the goal of keeping the student in school and trying to get to the source of the behavioral problem.
Cab-panel volunteers have a written contract with the youth and the family. Volunteer conduct a family interview, monitor a youth'scompliance with panel directives, and work with a cross-section of local volunteers, school officials and CAB staff.
Interested volunteers can contact Stephanie Watt, Probation Unit Supervisor at (209) 468-8424 e-mail swatt@sjgov.org.

Description
Make a Difference in Your Community!
The San Joaquin County (SJC) Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
