RED ROCKTOBER
Lucky red rocks.

THE HUNT for the RED ROCKTOBER
hosted by the Santa Fe Watershed Association, is a community cleanup that is also a treasure hunt! It's a fun way for us to thank our volunteers who do such good work picking up trash in the Santa Fe River and nearby arroyos. Come help us keep the Santa Fe River clean and protect downstream water quality, from Santa Fe to the Rio Grande.

WIN A ONE OF A KIND ROCK !

Volunteer with us and you might get lucky! Find a hand painted rock to keep. Meow Wolf Santa Fe's talented artists generously donated 17 hand painted river rocks. We will hide them along with our red rocks somewhere in the Santa Fe River or a nearby arroyo. These will be hidden anywhere from Patrick Smith Park to Siler Road.

Hunt for a hidden RED ROCK to increase your chances to WIN fun prizes in our drawings.
Volunteers who sign up to help are automatically entered into our drawings for prizes donated by Santa Fe's generous businesses. So find a red rock to get your name entered twice more into our drawings! So your odds could triple. If you find a red rock just get in touch with us with a photo of you, your rock and pile of trash you picked up.

About The Santa Fe Watershed Association

Location:

1413 2ND ST STE 3, SANTA FE, NM 87505, US

Mission Statement

Established in 1997 , t he mission of the Santa Fe Watershed Association is to protect and restore the health and vibrancy of the Santa Fe River and its watershed for the benefit of people and the environment. We achieve this through education, restoration, stewardship, and advocacy. From the River’s headwaters to the Rio Grande, we honor the connection of people and the watershed.

Description

The Santa Fe area faces the ongoing danger of catastrophic fire in our overgrown upper watershed, above the City drinking supply reservoirs. Management of the forests that safeguard the reservoirs has been an important theme for the Watershed Association, but in the past few years we have given new attention to the middle and lower stretches of the river. In particular, we are advocating restoration of consistent flow to the river to support vegetation and wildlife habitat, while recharging the groundwater. We are striving to create a sense of responsibility and common interest among all residents of the watershed. Additionally, our education programs have provided opportunities for locals to experience the Santa Fe River and its watershed through both school and public programs. Programs are designed to highlight a variety of ecosystems and explore ways that humans impact water and water impacts humans.
