Volunteer Income Tax Assistance to provide free tax preparation to local residents with low to moderate income, not to exceed an annual income of 55K. The United Way of Tarrant County is currently seeking volunteers for the 2018 income tax season. VITA is a free service and will aid qualifying local residents in claiming their tax refund dollars,EITC (Earned Income Credit) and Child Tax Credit.
Volunteers are needed throughout January to April to assist with the tax sites. There is also year round volunteer opportunities for some tax site locations. Volunteer hours are flexible and depend on the volunteer’s availability.
Training for new tax season will begin in November 2017. This volunteer opportunity allows you to serve as a Certified Tax Preparer, Greeter/Intake Specialist, Savings Ambassador, or Interpreter
The critical times for volunteers is during the last week of January and the month of February. Without volunteers, we can not help the families of Tarrant County.
- All trainings and training materials are free and will be provided
- All VITA trainings will be held at the Tarrant County College South Campus location
- VITA Certified IRS Tax Preparer trainings will begin in November 2017
