Are you interested in making a difference in local Baton Rouge middle schools? Do you work in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)? Would you like leading educational projects? Then become a STEMup mentor this 2015-2016 school year!
The STEM field is the fastest growing job market in Louisiana, however our students are not prepared. Start by teaching the skills they need to be competitive and be the future leaders of our state.
Whats involved?
YOU:
-Commit to 6 one-hour school visits
-Lead a hands on project
-Offer insight on STEM careers
WE:
-Provide lessons and materials
-Offer training and support
-Match you with a school, program, and team
We make volunteering easy! Fill out our mentor application and we will get back to you to schedule training and get you set up on a team. If you have enough friends or colleagues, you can even choose to form your own team.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide engaging and locally relevant STEM-rich learning experiences that positively impact student attitudes about learning and empower them to problem solve, think creatively, use technology appropriately, communicate and learn from each other and mentors. The model targets underrepresented students and our success depends on partnerships with STEM professionals and STEM-rich institutions, professional development for both mentor and teacher and methods for examining impact.
Description
STEMup Baton Rouge is a community-based, collaborative project designed to close opportunity gaps and strengthen local STEM talent pipeline by providing high-impact STEM mentoring to middle school students enrolled in the East Baton Rouge School System.
