Who we are/what we do:

Community Kitchen Inc., provides basic safety net and emergency food service to our community. The Community Kitchen, Inc. primarily serves fragile and economically disadvantaged persons living on the southeast and the near northside of Columbus, Ohio Ave and 20th Ave areas.

However, clients may come from anywhere to the Community Kitchen for services. One of the most special things about our organization is that we focus heavily on children and families.

Mission:

To be a community organization where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, receives food, and feels comfortable asking for help.

Volunteer opportunity:

We are looking for a Reception Desk volunteer. The office at Community Kitchen offers a number of services for our clients, from food pantry referrals, to assistance with a job search, to distribution of care packages. The volunteer managing the front desk would be assisting clients under the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator.

The office is open to clients Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and we will need a volunteer at that desk during those times. It is our hope that a volunteer would be able to commit to working the front desk once or twice a week.

Your duties would include helping clients with phone calls, input of client information and directing clients to appropriate services. Computer skills and multi-tasking are crucial.

Steps to volunteer:

1. Please visit: communitykitchencoumbus.org , select "how to help", next "volunteer with us" and follow the steps and link to print off orientation and application packet.

2. After completing the application and forms, please email Ashley the scan: volunteer@communitykitchencolumbus.org OR you can drop it off to our Ohio Ave. location.

3. Lastly, after Ashley receives your application, she will schedule a brief orientation for you or your group.
