PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Seven times a day, someone in this country dies in a home fire. The American Red Cross has launched a nationwide campaign to reduce this number and our volunteers can help save lives and prevent injuries. Canvassing and installation sessions will take place regularly once or twice a month throughout our region. Once trained you can participate as much or as little as you want. Duties include: • Attend canvassing events working in small groups to go door-to-door to promote installations. • Install smoke alarms, replace batteries and teach residents how to test and maintain their smoke alarms. • Help behind the scenes to report on all the good work being done in our communities!
OPEN TIME DAYS
For Canvassing & Installation activities: one day events (2-4 hours) Usually in the morning to early afternoon.
For Reporting activities: Dependent upon activities happening throughout region. Hours of work are flexible, but will require meeting strict deadlines.
REQUIRED TRAININGCanvassing & Installing:
Training is provided the day of the event and covers how to install, what to educate on, and how to capture data for reporting.
Reporting:
Training will be provided on a one-on-one basis
