Camp Kesem is a national non-profit dedicated to setting up free week-long camps for children whose parents are suffering from cancer. There are 63 chapters nationwide, and I am the Outreach Coordinator for Columbia University's chapter. Camp Kesem is run entirely by college students with the exception of three professional staff, 2 nurses and a mental health professional.
We are in search of a nurse who 1) is licensed in New Jersey and 2) loves kids. The responsibilities of the camp nurse include handling all camper health files, tending to any and all health-related matters and emergencies, and remaining on camp grounds for the duration of camp. When the nurse's services are not directly needed, he/she is more than welcome to participate in camp activities (which include arts&crafts, sports, adventure/team building, swimming, ropes course, archery, drama, etc.), join us in the dining hall, relax in the administration cabin, or tend to personal matters.
Our current nurse is more than happy to speak with any interested nurses about the position. Camp is an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience to help change the courses of children's lives. The commitment is very minimal, and the reward is tremendous. We usually do not offer monetary compensation to our professional staff, but we are willing to discuss a stipend if necessary.
If interested in the position, please contact me via e-mail. Thank you!
