GirlsFirst is a program that works with young women of color in high school, teaching them life skills to help ensure they are equipped to become the future leaders of today. We are seeking a group of diverse and compassionate women to support these young women at a critical time in their life!

As a mentor, you will help a teenage girl define and achieve her personal goals. This is a unique opportunity to positively impact the future of our community and make a difference in the life of a young woman.

Responsibilities:

  • Must commit to being a mentor for the full program year (September 2015 - June 2016).
  • Meet with your mentee once or twice each month (one of these must be in-person).
  • Check in monthly with program staff.
  • Attend monthly group activities with your mentee.
  • Attend all required mentor trainings.

Qualifications:

  • Must be female or female-identified.
  • Minimum age: 24 years old.
  • Professionals or students with a desire to work with girls of color.
  • Community members ready for a transformative life experience.

All applicants must attend an information session, complete and submit a mentor application, undergo an interview with program staff, and attend a one-day training session.

Applications must be submitted by July 15, 2015. To receive an application, please contact Anttimo Bennett, Project Coordinator, at anbennett@ywcaworks.org or 206.568.1211.
