The Adult Homeless Mental Health Services(AHMHS) program at MHA offers case management and ongoing assistance to formerly homeless, mentally ill adults who are living independently in supportive housing.
AHMHS is seeking volunteers to join our moving crew and help move recently homeless individuals into permanent housing. MHA receives generous donations of furniture and other household items from the community - and now we need YOUR help for pick-up and delivery of these items. Volunteer movers will need to be available on an on-call basis - with 1 to 2 weeks advance notice. This can be a one-time or recurring volunteer opportunity, based on your availability.
MHA is seeking volunteers with available transportation (preferably a van or truck), as well as the physical ability to lift and move furniture to offer this delivery assistance.
For more information, please contact Emily Kamin, volunteer@mhamc.org or (301) 424-0656, ext. 541.

Mission Statement
EveryMind strengthens communities and empowers individuals to reach optimal mental wellness.
Description
One in four people will deal with a mental health issue in their lifetime and that one person’s life impacts so many more - families, friends, co-workers, and neighbors to name just a few. We are committed to helpingeveryone recognize that taking care of one’s mental wellness is as important and necessary as taking care of one’s physical wellness. When one of us realizes optimal health, the entire community benefits.
For sixty years, our highly trained, caring, professional staff has provided community education, advocacy, and direct services which empower children, teens, families, older adults and the entire community to reach optimal mental wellness. We were known as Mental Health Association for most of that time, and while we have had a tremendous impact on the mental wellness of our community, we know that there is more work to be done. We have to find a way to move past the stigma that gets in the way of wholeness and wellness.
If we want to live in a healthy community - we need to care for every mind.
