Frederick Symphony Orchestra gives A Show of Westerns and Adventures in "Swashbucklers and Buckaroos"

FREDERICK, MD- Frederick Symphony Orchestra will be presenting "Swashbucklers and Buckaroos" just in time for Father’s Day! It’s the perfect Father’s Day gift for the whole family; dads and kids will enjoy the music that’s full of adventure and fun with songs from featured musicals Oklahoma and Man of La Mancha. Two performances Friday June 12 at 7:30 and Saturday June 13 at 3:00 at the Kussmaul Theatre at Frederick Community College.

The selections for this concert come from a variety westerns, adventures on the sea, and musicals. Performances of 'Saturday Night Waltz’ and "Hoedown" from the ballet "Rodeo" and if you’re a fan of "The Lone Ranger", the piece 'William Tell Overture’ might sound familiar to you. Other performances are 'Sea Hawk’, 'Victory at Sea’, and Disney’s 'Pirates of the Caribbean’ something dads and sons will definitely love. Enjoy music from Broadway’s "Oklahoma" and five time Tony Award winning "Man of La Mancha", famous for 'The Impossible Dream’. Also, FSO will being playing a special tribute to Dr. James E. Bowes, an active bassist in the orchestra who past away in February at age 94. Dr. Bowes was a former director of public health for Frederick County and performed with FSO for decades. He was known for his generous heart for helping others in need and his strong passion for music.

Guest Conductor Andrew Rosenfeld is not a stranger to Fredrick Symphony Orchestra. He has been a guest conductor here before as well as Maryland Symphony Orchestra and is a conductor and musical director for productions with Maryland’s Hub Opera Ensemble. Currently, Rosenfeld is a Professor of Music at Mount St. Mary’s University and chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts.

About the FSO: Frederick Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra for both professional and amateur musicians in Maryland. It was founded in 1997. We perform a variety of music such as classical masterworks, music by contemporary composers, pop concerts, and educated program such as the Young Artist Competition for young aspiring musicians. FSO has been providing the community with music and enriching its cultural climate that we have added a fifth concert for the performance schedule. We are succeeding in our goal to share the love of music with the Frederick community.

Description

The Frederick Symphony Orchestra is a community symphony composed of professional and amateur musicians from the local area. It performs a series of concerts each year which include major classical repertoire, pops, and chamber ensemble performances.
