This volunteer will lead the Friday session of English Conversation Hour for the summer while our regular volunteer is on hiatus. As the conversation facilitator, the coordinator provides a discussion topic and encourages those who attend to have a turn to speak. There is no attendee registration required and the sessions are free of charge. The setting is informal; attendees sit in chairs and form a circle.
English Conversation Hour is open to all ages and all skill levels; however, primarily adults attend. Many, but not all, have taken English classes and received English tutoring at International House.
Skills: This volunteer must be a fluent English speaker. He/She will lead a group of adults who want to practice and learn English. No training is provided, but International House staff will provide tips for leading a group conversation hour and suggest topics.
Time Commitment: This volunteer role will start Fri., May 29 or a Friday in June. We need to fill this position immediately.
Requirements:
- Conversational fluency in English
- A welcoming and friendly attitude
- Availability June through August 2015
- Prompt attendance recording

Immigrant Advocacy Program
International House provides legal representation and other resources to guide over 600 low-income internationals through the complexities of U.S. immigration law.
Citizen Diplomacy Programs
International House plays an important role in America's citizen diplomacy efforts by partnering with the U.S. Department of State and United States Agency for International Development to implement two U.S.Government sponsored programs: the International Visitor Leadership Program and Community Connections Program.
