ORGANIZATION: ANOKA COUNTY RSVP

Become a part of the solution to end domestic violence!

  • Become a Shelter Advocate and assist callers through the 24-hour crisis lines with support information and referrals. Shifts are generally 3-5 hours.
  • On-Call Hospital Advocates provide support and information to victims on-site at Unity and Mercy Hospitals. Shifts are generally 12-15 hours with overnight and weekend hours available.
  • Childcare Provider to help care for children ages infant through teens while mothers attend a support group or other meetings. Shifts are generally 1-3 hours.
  • Kitchen volunteers serve meals, prepare snacks in advance and perform light cleaning and organizing in the kitchen. Shifts are 2 hours from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM or 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

All interested volunteers must attend a mandatory information session on August 24th from 5:30-7:30 PM.

The Anoka County RSVP connects people age 55 and over who want to volunteer with non-profit and social service programs in Anoka County who need volunteers. Volunteers enroll by completing a skills and interests checklist and these are matched to community needs. From the matches, the volunteer selects a volunteer job that is meaningful and fits. Become one of nearly a half million RSVP volunteers across the country who are making a difference in their community.
