We are seeking a volunteergroup to host a BBQ for the 4th of July for the families at our homeless shelter. Willows at the YWCA is one of the few shelters that accommodate families. The volunteer group does the planning, executing, supervising, clean up--it's your event!

These BBQ's will help the families in our homeless shelter have a bit of a break from the hardships of life and let them celebrate a bit of the summer fun!

Volunteers will help with the following:

  • Planning, hosting, and supervising the party
  • Cooking & BBQ-ing
  • Serving food tot he families
  • Set-up, break-down, and cleaning after the party

We would prefer a group of 10 volunteers on July 3rd. However, we understand that many volunteers are observing the 4th of July holiday, so we can be flexible on the number of volunteers and the event date. Contact Grace Scarella, Volunteer Coordinator, at gscarella@ywcaworks.org, if you are interested in bringing a group to volunteer.

A brief orientation and tour will be provided to volunteers on arrival. Volunteers should be at least 16 years old. Parking is available onsite.

This program specializes in providing culturally-appropriate services to homeless families of color and offers emergency housing at two enhanced shelters and more than 108 shelter and transitional units throughout the City of Seattle.

We offer an on-site after-school program, domestic violence support and advocacy, chemical dependency and mental health services, nurse services, a food bank, teen group and lifeskills workshops.
