The City of Water Day Festival is a FREE day-long celebration of the world-class potential of the water that surrounds us and brings us together. Held on Governors Island, New York and Maxwell Place Park in Hoboken, New Jersey, the event draws thousands of people from throughout the New York-New Jersey metropolitan region to participate in hundreds of unique, fun, and educational waterfront activities organized by the Waterfront Alliance and its over 800 Alliance Partners. The events run between 10am and 4pm on Saturday July 16, 2015.
Volunteers at City of Water Day receive a free lunch and T-shirt. We look forward to welcoming you aboard!

Crowd Pleaser
If you are a "people person", have strong interpersonal skills, enjoy problem solving and talking with folks, this area is for you. Roles include crowd control, greeting, staffing the information booth, distributing tickets for tours, surveying event goers, and most importantly, acting as the public face of the event. In addition, roles range from the ability to work well with families and children, to the ability to maintain professionalism and entertain important guests.

Land Lover
If you have strong organizational skills, are a good observer and listener, and you are able to take and give direction, this volunteer opportunity is right for you. Roles include assisting in setting up the different areas of the event site (from informational and fun tables to band and stage set up), working with the exhibitors, and helping to maintain the look and feel of the event.

Kickoff Event Assistant
If you are a person who prides yourself on your professionalism and communication, abilities this position is for you. There will be a morning kickoff event as we set sail from Battery Park towards Govenors Island aboard the Clipper City. Local elected officials, community leaders, sponsors, journalists, and other VIPs will be aboard to help us officially launch the festival. Volunteer roles include greeting, tickiting, photography and videography, and acting as the public face of the event.
Dock Workers
Are you a person who loves water activities? Get the most out of your City of Water Day experience by helping at the waters edge. Be a City of Water Day Deck Hand. This work is rewarding and energetic and embodies the water experience. We need people who are willing to get their hands dirty and wet! We are looking for folks to hold deck lines for both small and large historic boats, assist the dock master and ensure the boats dock and load their passengers safely, stabilize kayaks, help carry kayaks, assist paddlers getting into and out of the water and in general working at the kayak dock on Governors Island. Kayak tour guides will help professionals give kayak tours and will be out on the water. You must love the water and not be afraid to be hands on and at the waters edge active and engaged. The docks are an exciting place to be on City of Water Day!

Boat Attendant
Have you always wanted to say "I’M ON A BOAT" and actually be on a boat? Well this is your chance! We need volunteers to help maintain the order on our free boat tours at the City of Water Day. Responsibilities will include: making sure passengers get on the boat, making sure passengers get off the boat, making sure the narrator on the boat can be heard, keeping the general order. Be sure to bring your sea-legs!
Set Up & Break Down
If you are responsible, timely, and want to enable the success of this event, then this is the position for you. Roles include setting up in the morning before the event, bringing supplies out for the Waterfront Activity Fair, in addition to breaking down the event at the end of the day. Without you, the City of Water Day would not be possible.
