Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula and VersAbility Resources are looking for professionals to be volunteer mentors for Ready 2 Work, a summer workforce development program for students with disabilities and those at risk to prepare them for today’s competitive job market.
Ready 2 Work Mentors are caring professionals (current or retired) who, along with parents and/or guardians, provide high school juniors and seniors with disabilities or those considered at-risk with career and job support, counsel, reinforcement, professional development and a constructive example in a structured and trusting relationship.
The program begin on July 11, 2016 and ends August 19, 2016. Mentors are expected to attend the following:
Mentor Orientation: June 15th, 1:00- 4:00 p.m.
Mentor/Mentee Meet & Greet: July 6th, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
One lunch per week for the full duration of the 9 week program (12:30-1pm)
Thrift Store Visit: Date TBD and different for every match
Graduation: August 19th, 3:00-5:00p.m.
The ideal mentor will be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or higher, have reliable transportation, complete the mentor application and sign the agreement, consent to a background check, and attend mentor orientation.

We provide a safe place to learn and grow through ongoing relationships with caring adults while providing life-enhancing programs and character development experiences that foster hope and opportunity. We provide programs in these five core areas:

- Sports, Recreation & Fitness
- The Arts
We serve over 6,000 youth between the ages of 6 and 18 throughout Hampton, Newport News, York County, Gloucester and Mathews County. We have a total of 13 Clubs.
