Gallery Volunteers
Two of our dedicated volunteers having fun at a artist's reception at Capital Arts

Weekend Gallery Managers/ Docents are responsible for:

  • Opening & closing the gallery
  • Welcoming & providing visitors with informaiton
  • Processing sales
  • Operating the Imagination Station (studio open to the public with supplies for use at $1 per person)
  • Misc. Tasks to assist nonprofit's function
  • Fun! This opportunity does allow for volunteers to read, work on other things or even be entertained with electronics so long as headphones are out and no noise is created while visitors are in.

Volunteers pick the dates they want to work by signing up through an online system that Capital Arts uses. So you'll never have to encounter a scheduling conflict.

*This is an important role as you represent the organization and keep it functioning during the weekends. You'll be in a beautiful gallery set in a historic parks & rec building surrounded by local and regional art. So if you love art, can operate on your own and have great people skills this is an ideal position for you!

Mission Statement

The mission of Capital Arts is to promote and provide services in the visual arts, by offering education and art opportunities to the public and by providing a venue for practicing artists.

Description

Capital Arts provides artistic opportunities year round including studio classes for children and adults and the Imagination Station. The Capital Arts Gallery provides a space for artists to exhibit and sell their work. Capital Arts hosts the annual Street Art Fair held in downtown Jefferson City with Jazzfest. Here artists of all ages and experience levels participate in a chalk art competition.

Volunteer opportunities at Capital Arts are not only fun but flexible. If you are only interested in part of a position or have limited availability just let us know! We are happy to work with you. All positions offer an opportunity to learn and grow over time in the areas that interest you.

Capital Arts accommodates students in interested accredited internship programs or capstone opportunities offered at their school.
