CETUSA Seeking Host Families in St. Charles, MO and Madison County, IL

Council for Educational Travel, USA (CETUSA) is seeking host familiesin St. Charles, MO and Madison County, IL to open doors to their homes, their communities, and their hearts for international high school exchange students. Exchange students from Europe, South America, and Asia are being placed in volunteer host families for a semester or an academic year. "My family has been involved with high school exchange students for the past 16 years - we call them our 'bonus kids’. We have enjoyed every one of our students, and we treated them like our own child. One of our favorite stories is from our first student doing his laundry -he was trying to match his socks. He held up a couple of socks and said, 'I don't know how my mother can do this, this is maddening!’ After he returned home, one of the emails we got from his Mom said she appreciated how much her son had learned being with us - especially doing the laundry!"

CETUSA exchange students carry their own health insurance and bring their own spending money. Mrs. Orr makes the arrangements for their high school acceptance and will provide ongoing support to the students and the families throughout their program. The students hope to be treated as one of the household and want to live the life "of a typical American teenager". The host families are asked to provide a bed in either a shared or private bedroom, a place for the student to study, three meals a day, and a welcoming home environment. This is a great opportunity to share what you love about your community and the United States while also learning about a new culture and a new person.
