You have the unique opportunity of being part of one of the most exciting events of the year! Volunteer at a local bicycle race! A criterium will be held at City Center with amateur racers from all over the VA, NC, MD area spanning the roads and showing off their skills. A criterium is a bicycle race where racers are grouped in fields either based on category (5,4,3,2,1) or age group and they race around a set course for a set period of time to determine who is the champion of the day. Courses can have tight turns, fast straightaways and plenty of strategies from team riders to block out or surprass their opponents. Plenty of high speed drama on the course. Riders can reach speeds of 30+ mph at any given time.
Our race this year is the championship crit for the wounded warriors! Come out and support the veterans who continue to thrive racing and are an inspiration for everyone!
We need volunteers to marshal the various corners of the race course where excitement abounds! Also those who can check in those strapping riders at registration and relief runners to provide water and snacks for the most important corner marshals. We also have needs for setup and tear down at the end of the day. Opportunities for everyone!
This is a fun, exciting opportunity for any locals in Newport News or the outlying areas to understand what is entailed with the inner workings of a bike race and how special it is to be a part of it. Bring your friends!

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide fun, safe and well organized events for our local area cycling teams. We like to bring racers in from out of the area to experience the local culture of the various Virginia cities and enjoy competing in a friendly environment.
All extra proceeds the race brings in goes to our local fire departments, typically those cities that host our races.
Description
Celerity Cycling is an amateur race team based out of Norfolk which spans the Hampton Roads, RVA, and Central, and Northern VA area. Our team members are spanning most age categories as well as competitive categories. We have male and female members and only lack junior members for our team. We are a diverse group and we race as many races as we can together. Individually the team performs well and there is much promise for our members. We have had several members leave our team with significant sponsorships and have succeeded in their cycling pursuits. Several of our cyclists race not only road, but cyclocross and MTB, as well, making this a very diversely talented team. We also have the privledge of several triathletes joining our team.
We host several races a year spanning the spring/summer months and most often get the bid for the Senior State championships, whether it be the road race, criterium or the individual time trial. The races are a great way to gain exposure for our team and bring recognition to our local areas. They have so much to offer.
Cycling events are exciting to participate in and be a part of! Come and join us at one of our events, we'd love to have you!
