Become a Certified Coach!
Become a Certified Coach and Deliver Evidence Based Programs to Seniors in their Communities! Become trained in how to teach seniors preventative measures in order to avoid falls, improve their balance, live with chronic diseases such as diabetes, or provide support to caregivers of loved ones with dimentia, alzheimers, or any memory impairment.

The Healthy Living Center of Excellence at Your Aging and Disability Resource Center is looking for enthusiastic, motivated and passionate volunteers to join our family.

Job Title: Volunteer Coaches, Lay Leaders, Instructors, Educators, Community Health Workers, Navigators.

Job Description: Being coaches for Fall Prevention, Healthy Living, Caregivers and Mental Health Programs.

Minimum Requirements: Having background or experience as Physical Therapists, Personal Trainers, Teachers, Nurses, Social Workers, and Volunteers who are interested in working in Falls Prevention, Care Giving and Living Healthy Field.

Additional Requirements:

  • Be able to communicate well with Adult population.
  • Care and have interest working with seniors.
  • Willing to commit long time in volunteer coach's role.
  • Have a valid driver license and vehicle.
  • Be able to carry items up to 20lbs.
  • Willing to submit drug-testing and background screening.

Commitment: Volunteers will determine their own schedule in delivering classes and workshops.

Description

The Area Agency on Aging's Healthy Living Center of Excellence offers Evidence Based Workshops within senior communities that focus on Fall Prevention, Balance, Living with Chronic Diseases, and Caregiver support.

We train and certify all willing volunteers at no charge to become facilitators in their community and help deliver Evidence Based Workshops such as:

  • Tai Chi - Moving For Better Balance
  • Matter of Balance
  • Chronic Disease Self-Management
  • Powerful Tools for Caregivers

Once you become a certified coach you can deliver these Evidence Based programs in senior communities around Palm Beach County, Treasure Coast, Martin, and Port Saint Lucie.

Tai Chi - Moving for Better Balance is a 12 week course that meets one hour, twice a week. (stipend for travel included)

Matter of Balance is an 8 week course that meets two hours, once a week. (stipend for travel included)

Chronic Disease Self-Management is a 6 week course that meets 1 1/2 hours, once a week.
