  • 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. -- Setup fencing, booths, signage, marking vendor spaces -- 10 volunteers needed
  • 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. -- Directing vendor traffic -- (5 volunteers needed - will work with Pam Green and Jackie Guerra)
  • 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. -- Volunteer check in -- Pam Green and Jackie Guerra
  • 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. -- Booth setup -- 5 volunteers needed
  • 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. -- Ticket/Information booth -- Malia and Jason Holleron - 1 volunteer needed
  • 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. -- Beer pouring -- 50 volunteers needed (2 shifts 10:30-2:00 & 1:30-5:00)
  • 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. -- Food tasting distributors -- 90 volunteers needed (2 shifts 11:00-2:30 & 2:00-5:00)
  • 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. -- Trash pickup inside beer garden (must be 21+) -- 6 volunteers needed (2 shifts 11:00-2:30 & 1:30-5:00)
  • 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. -- Trash pickup -- 20 volunteers needed (2 shifts 11:00-3:00 & 2:00-6:00)
  • 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. -- Break down -- 30 volunteers needed
  • 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. -- Directing vendor traffic -- (5 volunteers needed)

Welcome to the Lemon Zest and Garlic Fest. This event is guaranteed to be fun for the entire family with live entertainment, cooking demonstrations and contests, arts and crafts, and lots of fun activities for everyone. Produced by alms productions, LLC, and powered by more than 200 volunteers, this event will be known for its community impact through charitable giving, its fun concept, great musical experience, craft beers and the fantastic food that San Diego has to offer. Nsefu Wil dlife Conservation Foundation (co-founded by San Diego's own KGB radio DJ Coe Lewis) is the charity beneficiary of the 2015 Lemon Zest and Garlic Fest. Nsefu Wildlife is a nonprofit organization for the preservation and protection of endangered species and creating job opportunities through community projects and sponsoring scholarships to educate children in Nsefu, Zambia, in hopes that they will end the cycle of poaching. FEATURES:

ENTERTAINMENT: With several local bands on a large concert stage, guests will enjoy a diverse lineup of local music.

TASTING COMPETITION: Every vote counts. A tasting competition will be held where the attendees vote for their favorite foods through socially tracked voting. The top three winners receive bragging rights and a medal.

BEER GARDEN: This event offers a variety of craft beer and wine tastings. Each Beer Garden attendee will receive a souvenir Lemon Zest and Garlic Fest tasting mug with the Presenting and Beer Garden Sponsors’ logos.

FAMILY AREA: The popular family area is ideal for a day out with the family complete with a picnic area with features including games, inflatables, photo booth, face painting, etc.

VENDORS: From lemon and garlic tastings, a beer and wine garden, to a variety of vendors, this event offers a wide variety of tasty delights as well as a variety of fun and exciting vendors to visit.

Mission Statement

Nsefu Wildlife's mission is to preserve and protect wildlife in Zambia while developing and supporting community programs through education and economically viable alternatives to poaching. We envision a world where wildlife if free from the threat of extinction.

Description

At Nsefu Wildlife Conservation Foundation we reduce wildlife crime and local poverty in the Nsefu Sector in Zambia through direct and indirect methods. Our key programs include:

Wildlife Ranger Program: Our approach beings with keeping wildlife safe in the field. Our Wildlife Ranger program employs trained enforcement officers and we are achieving spectacular results.

Women's Empowerment: We believe in lifting EVERYONE up in the Nsefu Sector and this includes women. The Women's Sweing Program helps women help themselves and their families.

Beekeeping/ Biofencing: We show local farmers how to earn an income using eco-friendly agricultural methods of beekeeping and honey harvesting as well as establishing bee fences (biofencing) around crops to reduce human/elephant conflict.

Education: The key to ensuring the safe future of wildlife is investing in education by exposing children to the importance of wildlife conservation and protecting the environment.
