As part of Skillpoint Alliance's mission to get youth interested in STEM education and careers, every summer we host STEM Innovation Camps throughout the city of Austin! STEM Innovation Camps focus on a variety of different topics like:

• Aquaponics
• SciGirls
• Dev Boards
• Forensics
• Maker and Maker Jr.
• STEAM
• Minecraft
• Scidelights
• Video Game Design
• Robotics

Volunteers are to be role models for students, while helping them stay on task with their project based STEM learning activites. We have the following roles available for volunteers:

1. Volunteer as an Assistant Teacher in the Classroom: Assist the main classroom instructor with keeping students engaged in projects and having fun! Help the students to explore the "teachable moments" that naturally occur during projects to expose underlying STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) concepts.
2. Volunteer as a Guest Speaker (virtual or in person): The goal of the interaction is to bring real world application, professional experience and relevance to what the educator is teaching! This interaction can be virtual, so as long as you have a good internet connection and a device with a camera, you can participate from anywhere.
   
3. Bring your team and lead a Central Texas Discover Engineering Lesson: Come to one of the Innovation Camps locations, and provide a hands on experiment that demonstrate teamwork and logical processes to the summer camp kids. This will be a chance for volunteers to discuss their jobs and explain what a "day in the life of an engineer" involves.

Camps are all over the city of Austin, and usually occur between 8 am and 5 pm.
