Position: ReStore Volunteer Cashier/Sales Associate
Reports To: ReStore Manager
Time Commitment: Regularly scheduled with a minimum of one 4 hour shifts per week. We also have a specific need for people who are able to work on Saturdays, if able.
Position Purpose
This position is expected to complete transactions from seller to buyer in an efficient and friendly manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote Habitat for Humanity and its mission.
- Greet arriving customers.
- Operate cash register and credit card machine properly.
- Follow established procedures for customer sales.
- Fill out necessary paperwork for hold/sold items.
- Respond to customer/donor inquiries.
- Answer phone calls and direct to proper employee or take massage as needed.
- Direct customers to appropriate areas of the store.
- Clean, price, and put out smaller donated items that are brought to front for processing.
Requirements
- Must submit to background check.
- Must be comfortable handling money and operating cash register.
- Must be people-oriented, flexible, and enthusiastic.
- Must have a professional demeanor and remain friendly and polite when faced with difficult customer situations
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize and handle multiple functions simultaneously and communicate clearly and courteously, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to do light to moderate lifting as needed.

Description
Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity of the Mid-Willamette Valley builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. After a partner family completes 500 sweat equity hours, a Habitat home is sold to the family for no profit, financed with affordable, 0%-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are recycled into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Habitat for Humanity of the Mid-Willamette Valley has been serving the community since 1991, working in concert with volunteers, donors, and partner families to build decent, affordable homes in Salem, Keizer, Polk County and the greater Stayton area.
