The intern will be assisting our current Volunteer Coordinator, Meg, with daily activities. These activities include accepting and processing volunteer applications, conduct background checks for incoming volunteers, develop daily schedules for volunteers and handle the volunteer appreciation. This is a great internship to see how a retail non-profit functions and you will experience one-on-one interaction with volunteers of all ages. The ReStore is growing rapidly, so every day is a new situation! This is an unpaid internship.

About Habitat for Humanity of Oshkosh

Location:

1640 S Koeller St, Oshkosh, WI 54902, US

Mission Statement

Habitat is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to put belief into action by working in partnership with God's people to create a decent habitat in which to live and work. Habitat's mission is to eliminate substandard housing while providing simple, decent housing to qualified low-income families. In addition to building homes, Habitat builds a spirit of community and cooperation among the volunteers, supporters and beneficiaries of the organization. Habitat partners with other community development organizations to rebuild neighborhoods.

Through tax-deductible donations of money and material, by utilizing volunteer labor and with the help of future homeowners, Habitat builds simple, decent, and affordable homes. Houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with no-interest mortgages. Homeowners invest their own labor, called "sweat equity," into building their home and the homes of other Habitat families. This makes monthly payments affordable. The no-interest mortgages are paid back into a revolving "fund for humanity" account which is used to build more homes in Winnebago County for eligible homeowners.

Description

Habitat for Humanity of Oshkosh (Habitat), an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, built its first home in Oshkosh in 1990. Over two dozen families in the surrounding area own homes built and financed with Habitat. There are construction plans for multiple new homes in the near future.
