One of our Nepali ESL students.

If you are looking for an opportunity for indirect volunteer work, this is the one for you! We are looking for volunteers to join our fundraising committee to coordinate events and activities with the purpose of allocating funds and new contacts to the organization, as well as getting our name out into the community. In the past we have held Community Hot Dog Roasts, Wine Tastings, Open Houses, and more! You will work with a wide variety of people and cultures, and have the chance to get very creative.

Description

Our mission is to reach out in love and service to refugees of all faiths and nationalities, providing direct service programs to create a safe community atmosphere and assist them on their journey to independence and, the ultimate goal, citizenship. To assist them in reaching their goal, Mary ’s Place provides services such as English classes, After School Tutoring, Casework and Green Card Assistance, just to name a few. Within six years Mary ’s Place has placed twenty-one children in private schools, twenty-two young adults have gone to college and have pursued a degree in nursing, international relations, engineering, etc., and twelve of the adults have gained their citizenship. Lastly, many of them are employed and have become independent, and come back to Mary ’s Place to volunteer.
