Position: Visitor Center Front Desk Volunteer

Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator

Salary: Volunteer Basis (Unpaid)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Visitor Center Front Desk Volunteer is an integral part of the Bryan College Station Convention & Visitors Bureau (BCSCVB) team, serving as the primary greeter for all visitors coming into or contacting the BCSCVB offices.

The Visitor Center Front Desk Volunteer will greet all walk-in visitors, answer phones, assist with creating baskets for distinguished guests, and assist in staffing booths or tables at local tradeshows or events. Hours are extremely flexible.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer phones, and be able to effectively answer questions using available resources provided at the BCSCVB.

  • Greet walk-in visitors, and be able to effectively answer questions using available resources provided at the BCSCVB.

  • Assist in creation of gift baskets or visitor welcome bags with the guidance of the BCSCVB. Occasionally may require assistance in delivering baskets to guest location.
  • Manage information booths at tradeshows, events, or conventions. Events will only be local - no travel outside of Brazos County required.

  • Other light volunteer duties as needed or assigned.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED

  • Must be minimum 16 years of age
  • Valid Texas drivers license
  • General knowledge how to operate computers, including using Google or the internet to research information or replying to emails
  • General knowledge of the Bryan College Station area, including location of basic major attractions such as Downtown Bryan or George Bush Library
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work with others in an office setting

ADDITIONAL INFO:

  • Business casual dress is required when representing the BCSCVB
  • Training is provided on how to operate any computers or phones in the BCS CVB office. Potential hospitality training program may also be provided.
  • No heavy lifting (more than 10 pounds) is required
  • No long periods of standing required
  • Volunteer hours not required when office is closed for holidays or other reasons

The Brazos Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau is a non-profit organization which contracts with the cities of Bryan and College Station to market, sell and promote the area as a premiere destination for conventions, leisure travel, trade shows, sporting events and activities, which will attract visitors to utilize Bryan-College Station facilities and attractions.
