Join us for a morning of volunteering at the Clover Creek Reserve. We will be removing invasive Scot's broom, blackberry and other invasive weeds in order to protect and maintain our newly planted trees and shrubs. It will be a very rewarding day of work as well as a great opportunity to explore the beautiful woodland prairie habitat of the reserve.

Please email Lizzy Stone at lstone@forterra.org to register for this event.

Clover Creek Reserve consists of 18 acres of protected prairie land, oak woodland and riparian habitat. Forterra (formerly Cascade Land Conservancy) began stewardship of the property 2000 and since then has been working hard to preserve the rare andnative flora and fauna of the landscape. Two chanels of the Clover Creek run through the reserve, making it a unique and picturesque location for bird watching and connecting with nature.

Where to meet: The upper portion of the reserve is located across from 610 Johns Rd E. Volunteers should meet just outside of the Reserve's entry gate. Parking is limited along the side of the road so please carpool!

What to bring: Please dress for the weather - rain or shine. Wear close-toed shoes, long pants and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Bring a water bottle. Tools, training and refreshments will be provided. No experience is necessary!

Youth Volunteers: Teen volunteers under ages 15-18 and attending the event without a parent or guardian must bring a Youth Waiver signed by a parent or guardian. The waiver can be found on the event page at forterra.org/events

About Forterra

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
