After school, Reef House kids arrive from school with homework in hand, asking for help. After students wind down, they experience individual tutoring and fun learning activities to enhance what they've learned in school. Volunteers are needed during this time to work with the kids as they do their homework. Most of the homework usually involves math, language arts, and reading. But, other subjects sometimes do arise. Volunteers are needed 2 or more days per week (Monday through Thursday).

Description
We call ourselves the Future Foundation because we encourage kids to dream about, invest in, and prepare for their futures. We prepare students and parents to have the self-confidence to envision a better life, and stand out from the cycle of negativity and hopelessness, and affect change in their lives and communities. Whether it’s tutoring, college prep, guidance toward healthy choices, or providing a safe space to make those choices, our programs help our students draw on their resilience and thrive in the face of their challenges. We offer programs to help parents build stronger families, and encourage community members to invest in our youths’ future. In this way, we build a foundation for a better future for all of us.
Our founder is Shareef Abdur-Rahim, an East Point youth who went on to stardom in the National Basketball Association. He knows the hardships kids face in his old neighborhood, so he decided to do something about it.
Since its inception in 2001, the Future Foundation has grown into a successful 'second family’ for more than a thousand young people. Driven by a dedicated team of talented staff, we are nationally recognized for our innovative programs and our integrated model of service.
In spite of this, there are still thousands of kids in our communities who miss out. That need, and the difference we can make, drives us forward.
