Do you enjoy the energy and challenge of working with teens? Do you remember how difficult some of the decisions were when you were a teenager? Peer pressure can be a huge issue. Spend some time with a teen from your own community and help give them some direction. Having another positive adult in a child's life to guide them along is a wonderful gift to any teen. Call Penny if interested in finding out if a teen near you is waiting for a friend.

People often think teens don't want a mentor but our waiting kids say different. Many teens are hoping an adult will come forward before they age out of the program. Won't you reach out to a teen who is waiting?

About Kinship Greater Twin Cities

Location:

1100 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407, US

Mission Statement

Kinship Greater Twin Cities believes that every young person needs a role model. Kinship youth are matched with community mentors who foster supportive, holistic, and authentic relationships. Mentors and mentees are carefully matched based on common interests, aspirations and, when desired, faith connections. Kinship believes that the mentoring relationship is a mutually beneficial opportunity for all parties to grow. Kinship commits to providing resources and opportunities for youth and their families throughout the greater Twin Cities.

Description

Kinship actively invites individuals, couples and families into mentoring relationships with boys and girls ages 5-15. Focused on building lasting friendships through fun activities and quality time, the mentoring program creates sustained, supportive connections capable of giving youth the life skills they need to succeed. Kinship's mentoring model requires mentors to spend 2-4 hours per week with their mentee and are encouraged to participate in community events and activities centered around the youth's interests. Discovering new experiences together is also encouraged, opening the door for academic, social, and emotional growth. Life skills and work preparedness are also essential to our mentoring model, as well as optimism for the future and healthy living.
