Reports to:
Theater Director
Qualifications:
- Must be outgoing and organized, prior management and movie house experience preferred.
- Must be comfortable working with technology.
Responsibilities:
- There will be one am and one pm manager who split daily shifts with an hour crossover for communication.
- Work closely with Box Office Manager to ensure all aspects of screenings run smoothly.
- Set up and oversee line-management outside screening venues.
- Ensure that screenings start in a timely fashion.
- Liaise with filmmakers to ensure sound levels and other technical considerations are met at screenings.
- Manage theater volunteer teams
- Train and oversee ushers
- Familiarity in all aspects of ticketing
- Familiarity with all festival films
- Manage issues with patrons
- Troubleshoot as needed
- Introduce films if needed
- Morning Manager opens venue (shift from 10am-5pm, exact times tbd) with all items needed for each day’s screenings.
- Afternoon/Evening Manager locks up venue (shift from 4pm-11pm, exact times tbd)
- Hand-off shift meeting during screening
Daily Breakdown:
- Morning Manager opens venue. Evening Manager closes venue:
- Daily online ticket report from Box Office Manager
- Cash Box
- Movie posters for each day’s screenings
- iPad and square with battery booster
- Ballot box for each venue
- Mobile Box Office for each venue (pencils, pens, stapler, tape, manila envelope for each film with ballot count sheets inside, script for film introduction)
- Ticketing Log Sheet
- Merchandise for sale
- Catalogs and other festival guides, flyers and marketing material
- Tall banner
- Reserved seating signs and tape for any filmmaker seats
- Ensure all volunteer envelopes are received each morning
- Tech check with film house at least ½ hour prior to doors opening. Work with projectionists to ensure movie starts on time. Call Festival Director and Box Office Manager with any issues.
- Ensure microphones are in place and reserved seating areas are marked.
- Collect audience ballots for each day's screening.
- Log into google drive and record each film's ballot scores.
- Ensure all volunteer envelopes are received each evening from Volunteer Coordinator and make sure all volunteer badges are available for following day's shift.
- Collect all ticket and merchandise sales logs at the end of each day from the Shift Leader.
- Close down the theatre, return all items to headquarters and prepare everything for the next day’s screenings.
Post-Festival
Write wrap-up report including suggestions to improve department efficiency.
