We are looking for someone to help coordinate the Smart Mommies website. We have a handful of bloggers, research support, social media content creators and we need you! This opportunity would best be suited for someone who is intersted in social justice issues, women's right to educatio, wants to work remotely, has great people skills, and wants to develop their project management skill.

The Smart Mommies Site (www.smart-mommies.com) is a resource website designed to help pregnant and parenting college students succeed in higher education. While there are a lot of support for high school students who become pregnant, there are little to no resources for students in college who become pregnant. One report estimates that nearly 70% of women who drop out of community college did so because they got pregnant - and another says that is more like 50% for all female students. Sadly, we dont have figures on how it affects dads. And for student parents the figures aren't much better- less than 50% have a chance of completing a bachelors degree within 10 years.

We want to run a campaign that will develop family friend universities in the U.S. Once we secure funding for the project, which you will be a part of, we will look to develop a team of indviduals that can scale up the site and provide support through advocacy, partnerships with other organizations, social media campaigns, blogs, reserach, and so much more.

Mission Statement

Established in 2011, Communities for Kids Incorporated (C4K) seeks to cultivate partnerships between families, schools, and communities, in order to develop the spaces in which children play, learn, and grow. Specific activities include strengthening family participation in schools, designing full-service community school approaches, and boosting community empowerment through asset mapping. At the core of our work is the belief that children are key stakeholders in their own growth and development, and their voices must be heard. C4K values kids’ voices by actively engaging children in the design, implementation, and evaluation of our projects.

The mission of Communities for Kids Inc. (C4K) is to be a dynamic organization, facilitating holistic child development in their communities, and providing safe environments in which children can play, learn and grow. C4K’s main purpose is to provide for underprivileged children by supporting the development of Full-Service Community Schools. This is achieved through the identification and mapping of community resources, and the provision of programming and services for students, schools, and communities where gaps exist. We believe this can be achieved through an empowering and co-operative model of holistic community development centered on children and their surroundings

Description

The vision of C4K is one in which every child’s needs are met and they are able to develop into happy, healthy, educated, and fulfilled adults. In order to accomplish this, we envision a collective effort to prioritize and optimize children’s environments. In our vision, services and programs are no longer fragmented, but highly coordinated. We embrace the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child," and visualize a world in which all adults in children’s lives focus on their overall welfare.
