ORGANIZATION: Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority

  • 8 people are interested

The Constituents' Voice is an organization that advises the Director of the Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority with respect to policy concerning the Mentally Challenged (MI), Developmentally Disabled (DD), and Substance Abuse (SA) populations in Wayne County. We are having our first annual Community Inclusion Conference, May 28, 29, 2015 at Greater Grace Temple, 23500 W 7 Mile, Detroit, MI. We are seeking volunteers to work at the site one or both days and any donations (items) that could be distributed as giveaways at the conference. We are also seeking monetary donations. Any money donated will go towards our Mini Grant fund. The Mini Grant fund will be set up to give funds to our constituents to pursue dreams (such as a Yoga Class, the purchase of a musical instrument, fees to pay for a driver's license, art classes, etc.) that cannot be paid for with government dollars (such as Medicaid funds).

The conference is being held to discover and demonstrate ways the MI, DD, and SA populations can be further integrated into their communities (such as churches, fitness studios, block clubs, gyms, etc.). We are seeking anyone who would be interested in supporting this event. Thank you!
