We are a therapeutic horseback riding program that offers one to one and small group therapeutic horseback riding sessions. During the summer we offer a very special summer day camp program that allows for larger group experiences. We offer both non-mounted and mounted activities for groups of up to 15 people. We offer these camps on Wednesday and Friday morning from 10:00-1:00. We need volunteers to help facilitate this program. We train volunteers in all aspects of horsemanship starting with ground work, there are horse back riding opportunities, all hours are accredited, and we do offer letters of reference and recommendation when appropriate. It is a very fun and rewarding experience.

Mission Statement
Equessense, Therapeutic Horse Play utilizes very special horses in a therapeutic approach to enhance the lives of individuals with a wide range of abilities and needs. Our mission is to help meet the growing need for alternative therapies and inclusive recreational opportunities for people with disabilities at a nominal fee that would exclude on one who could benefit from our services.
Description
Equestrian therapy is widely recognized as a beneficial method of intervention for people with physical, mental, emotional, developmental or sensory deficits. Research has produced solid evidence that animal-assisted therapy in the form of a structured horse-back riding program not only reduces the manifestations of the rider's disability but enables him or her to gain valuable skills in other areas as well. Equessense offers individualized riding programs for every rider based on specific goals pertaining to that rider. For virtually every need that a rider might have, the horse offers a specific healing solution. Under the supervision of a trained facilitator the horse becomes a wise teacher, a sensitive therapist and a trusted friend.
