Come join the Friends of Rockefeller State Park Preserve in celebrating the fourth annual I Love My Park Day.
I Love My Park Day is an exciting statewide event to improve and enhance New York's parks and historic sites and bring visibility to the entire park system and its needs. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Park Visitor Center.Join forces with the Preserve as we continue the wetland restoration project we began last year by gradually increasing the native fern, flower and shrub diversity in the wetland swale behind the Visitor Center along the path to Swan Lake. We need your help to replace the non-native multiflora rose and privet with native witch hazel, winter berry, sweet pepper bush, ostrich fern, and jack in the pulpit. All ages welcome, please bring garden gloves and hand tools. We recommend wearing a hat, long sleeves and pants as we guarantee thorns and ticks. Bring a bagged lunch. We will provide water, snacks, sunscreen, tick and poison ivy repellent.
