Come join the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct in celebrating the fourth annual I Love My Park Day. This is an exciting statewide event to improve and enhance New York's parks and historic sites and bring visibility to the entire park system and its needs. 9:30 AM to 3 PM: Volunteers will help improve the health of the trail by lopping vines, removing invasive plants and bushes, and doing some restoration work by planting some native species. Participants will learn how to identify the targeted Invasive Species, will be taught how to deal with them by either pruning or pulling them up, and will then form up into teams to attack the specific plants. There will be tasks for those with various skill levels, no experience necessary. Although gloves and tools will be provided, volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves, loppers, hand saws and pruners (remember to label them!) Please wear long pants, a hat, and a long-sleeved shirt. Water and snacks will be provided, but volunteers who plan to stay the entire time should also consider bringing a lunch.
