The Computer History Museum seeks energetic and qualified professionals to serve as Instructors in the Education department's division of Community Programs. Instructors will be responsible for leading hands-on activities for diverse visitors in a wide range of educational programs. Roles will vary according to Instructors' qualifications and ability to meet the needs of specific programs. Assignments may range from facilitating casual discussions about computer artifacts at interactive "Exploration Stations" throughout the Museum to teaching middle school students in Design_Code_Build--a series of daylong events designed to introduce the basics of coding and applied mathematics, in order to excite youth about pursuing STEM in their future education and careers.

Qualified candidates will be retained for hire as needed, to staff specific events. Program-specific training will be provided. Events will take place primarily on weekends. Compensation rate is $20/hour.

Select candidates will be asked to interview at the Museum.

Description

Established in 1996, the Computer History Museum is a non-profit entity dedicated to the preservation and celebration of computing history. From the heart of Silicon Valley, we share insights gleaned from our research, our events, and our incomparable collection of computing artifacts and oral histories to convene, inform, and inspire people to build a better world. It is home to one of the largest collections of computing artifacts in the world, a collection comprising over 3,500 artifacts, 3,000 films and videotapes, 5,000 photographs, 3,500 linear feet of cataloged documentation and gigabytes of software. The collection is housed in a Visible Storage Exhibit Area in Mountain View, Calif., in the heart of Silicon Valley.
