The Travelin' Rat is an organization that helps rescues that take in rats. Amazing Pet Expos has given us free booths at all 34 expos they have around the country. We are hoping to find volunteers who will sit at these tables and hand out literature about us and talk about how we help rescues, especially those that take in rats.

The 5th Annual Austin Pet Expo is on Sat, Aug 1 from 10am-6pm and Sun, Aug 2 from 11am-4pm. (We don't expect set-up or tear down to take very long but would expect that volunteers would be ready for a 10am start time on Sat and 11am start time on Sun.) We'd like to get at least 2 volunteers for each day, which would then give everyone a chance to walk around and enjoy the show for a bit and take bathroom/food breaks (day can be split up into am/pm shifts if that is preferred, too). We'd prefer that volunteers be over 18, but they can be 16 if there is someone over 18 with them that day. There is free admission to the shows and volunteers will get free parking.

If you're an animal lover, these shows are perfect for you- packed with entertainment, vendors, and education.

If you are involved with or know of a non-501(c)(3) rescue that takes in rats, you can let them know that this is one way that we can help them. We're limited to what help we can give them as we cannot donate to them. The booth would be under The Travelin' Rat but the non-501(c)(3) rescue would be allowed to bring adoptable rats (or a binder with pictures or similar), adoption contracts, and rescue info to have at the table, alongside our info. Even though we can't help with money, we could still help with PR and hopefully adoptions!
