This volunteer will work closely with the Executive Director and Marketing & Fundraising Committees of Capital Arts. This position involves copywriting, brainstorming, and information-wrangling, event planning & coordination. This position also offers a great opportunity to learn and develop through intensive research of arts marketing opportunities and approaches. This is a fast-paced window into the world of nonprofit arts planning and management.
We’d like a volunteer or intern to help execute and manage all Capital Arts events. Daily duties may range from locating event space and catering donations, managing invitees, and constant coordination with the social media and marketing team to ensure every Capital Arts event is a home run! Events range from our annual street art competition, gallery crawls, fundraisers and artist receptions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Participating in the creation of an overall Event plan for the organization
2. Coordination of event donors, management of RSVPs, theme planning and location scouting
3. Recruit volunteers for events
5. Write, edit, and send press releases, advertising materials and other Event marketing communications
Requirements
The ideal candidate is passionate about the visual arts and has the following experience or characteristics:
• Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Hospitality or a related field
• Experience planning and events
• Entrepreneurial spirit
• Sharp, go-getter attitude
• Good interpersonal skills and high emotional IQ

Description
Capital Arts provides artistic opportunities year round including studio classes for children and adults and the Imagination Station. The Capital Arts Gallery provides a space for artists to exhibit and sell their work. Capital Arts hosts the annual Street Art Fair held in downtown Jefferson City with Jazzfest. Here artists of all ages and experience levels participate in a chalk art competition.
Volunteer opportunities at Capital Arts are not only fun but flexible. If you are only interested in part of a position or have limited availability just let us know! We are happy to work with you. All positions offer an opportunity to learn and grow over time in the areas that interest you.
Capital Arts accommodates students in interested accredited internship programs or capstone opportunities offered at their school.
