Based in Collin County, Texas, Cornerstone Assistance Network of North Central Texas is a nonprofit organization. Cornerstone’s mission is to unite with others to demonstrate compassion by serving our neighbors in need. This is accomplished by sharing and helping family units escape the cycle of poverty for good by providing resources, tools, and education. The approach of walking alongside families, teaching them skills, and providing resources is a key component of Cornerstone. Simply providing emergency assistance, or a backpack with school supplies is good, but doesn't move a family forward or provide a lasting solution. Combining multiple programs to build a comprehensive plan for individual families allows each to get to a place where they no longer need assistance, but rather, are strong, contributing members of the community.

VISTA Duties: Continue and improve implementating a marketing campaign. Create and implement a donor retention process. Continue to improve the client tracking system. Continue to implement a volunteer retention process. Each of these specific pieces will be broken down into smaller tasks, such as researching, designing, and implementing key components. The overarching goal of the project is to help increase Cornerstone NCT’s capacity while helping families break out of the cycle of poverty for good. This will be measured through the number of additional families served through our financial literacy class, and volunteers recruited to help teach the class.
