This position is the vital to the success of the food pantry. You will be working with a partner to go collect the food donations from different stores and donors in the community. We "rescue" food from multiple local grocery stores, and distributors as well as pick up food from the St. Louis Area Foodbank. Our drivers collect food 6 days a week at different times. Our driving schedule varies on times due to the collections that might be donated on a short notice. The driver and helper will be respectful to our donors and any of their staff. Donations are needed at all times and must be picked up when convenient for the donors. You may not always travel with the same partners on the same days; we have many volunteers who come whenever they are able.

Communication with the Back Room Volunteers is important to relay where each delivery was donated from and if the items need to be weighed and recorded. The back room volunteers may also need help moving the donations to different areas to increase the flow of traffic and ensure safe work areas.

Drivers need to be available starting around 7:30 am Monday-Saturday until 12 noon. We also have two other pick-ups on Friday afternoons at 2 pm. We are looking for other drivers who might have a more open availability to be able to get last minute donations. We generally need at least 2 drivers per shift, some days could need 3-4. Our drivers communicate directly with our donors and must present themselves with dignity and respect since you are representing Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry anywhere you are.
