Description

The New York Children's Theater Festival is passionate about serving young audiences by encouraging the development of innovative theater for youth!

The New York Children's Theater Festival gives artists an opportunity to produce a fully staged version of their project. Artists submit their scripts and are they adjudicated by a panelist of children's theater experts. The final shows are then chosen by NYCTF to participate in the festival season which premieres each spring over the course of 3-4 weeks.

The Festival offers several crucial production elements for each show: Venue, Marketing, PR, Print, panelist feedback and development sessions, and industry attendance during performance. Festival staff is on hand during the entire production process to offer other resources: discounted rehearsal space, connections to creative personnel (Stage Managers, Designers, Directors etc.), access to free/inexpensive props and sets through Materials For The Arts, production meetings with festival staff to discuss progress and problem areas, and a production liaison present during the entire technical and production process.

The Festival also offers educational opportunities for artists throughout the year including symposiums and expert lectures.

Yearly festival volunteer opportunities range and include areas of: general operations, development, literary, and produciton.
