Cornerstone Assistance Network wants to place a Communication VISTA at the Amvensys Foundation. www.amvensys.org

Pay: $990 per month BEFORE taxes

The Amvensys Foundation was founded in 2011 to alleviate poverty and homelessness through education. In an age of a fragile economy and heightened risks of poverty and homelessness, The Foundation focuses its efforts and funding on education for disadvantaged youth so that they can sustain good lives through good jobs. By focusing on the impacts and causes of intergenerational poverty, we hope to enable the students who complete our program to sustain themselves financially and by doing so to bring families and ultimately communities out of poverty. We currently offer college scholarships to talented low income students who might not be able to attend college otherwise. We are excited to expand our programming through the help of our VISTAs to include a mentoring program and a financial literacy education program for our students. We are also excited to grow and strengthen our organization’s fundraising and communication so that we are able to positively impact more low-income students.

The three VISTA members assigned to our organization will be indispensable to the growth of the Foundation its future. All VISTAs will report directly to the executive director and will work together in a highly collaborative and flexible environment. The Communications and Social Media Associate will improve the Foundation’s communications and social media presence. Strong writing and communication skills are necessary. The primary tasks will be researching and drafting a comprehensive communications plan for the Foundation and working with volunteers to update our website to more accurately reflect our work. Website development experience is not required, as technical support will be provided by volunteers. Other projects for this VISTA will include: expanding the reach of the Amvensys Scholars program by reaching more eligible college students; evaluating the utility of a third-party e-mail system and implementing the system if selected; researching and recommending an appropriate contact management software for the Foundation; developing and publishing a newsletter for the Foundation; drafting new text for the website and generally working to maximize the scope and reach of the Foundation’s message and impact.
