Are you a student looking to volunteer your time this summer? If so, we have a couple of volunteer opportunities available for you here at West Valley Community Services (WVCS)! We'd love to have you support our agency this summer.

Please note the following:

  • Volunteers are required to be 16 years of age or older.
  • Volunteers should enjoy working with all types of people and show a genuine concern for our organization. A willingness to work hard and pitch in wherever needed is what we ask! The ideal volunteer is self-motivated, mature, friendly, a team player and reliable.
  • We do not accept walk-in volunteers. All volunteer shifts must be pre-scheduled.
  • Prospective volunteers must attend Volunteer Orientation, which are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5pm and the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 10am.

Here are volunteer opportunities we have available for youth volunteers:

  • Food Pantry: Shifts are on weekdays only from 8am-12noon, 1-5pm or on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 5-8pm. For this position, we ask that volunteers be with us for 1 shift per week, for at least 8 consecutive weeks. Of course we'd love to have you volunteer with us longer if you can!
  • Food Pantry Mini Cleans: Organize you and 3 of your friends to help out one time or a couple times times this summer! Shifts available are Wednesdays or Fridays 3-5pm. For this opportunity, you'll clean out our agency vans that collect food, re-organize the food pantry shelves and do some general food pantry cleaning. It's a great way to help us keep the Food Pantry clean for those that we serve!
  • Community Garden: Learn how to take care of summer veggies and pick veggies that will go directly into the Food Pantry. Shifts are available Wednesday at 1:30pm or Fridays at 9:00am for approximately 1 hour. You can come both days if you'd like! Again, we do ask that you volunteer with us for at least 8 consecutive weeks - or longer if you can!

For questions or to learn more about getting started, contact us via this post or email us at volunteer@wvcommunityservices.org

**Please note the WVCS Summer Youth Club will not be taking place for Summer 2015. Please look for a new, revamped program Fall/Winter 2016!
