We recently had a call from a lovely woman that would like some help acquiring groceries from her favorite grocery stores. I could hear the excitement in her voice as she decribed her favorite smoked sardines and wild caught salmon.
When I asked, how do you eat the sardines? She replied, well right out of the can for my fish serving. (Obviously a woman who knows her dietary requirements!)
When our neighborhood seniors become home bound they often have to give up their favorite things. Your gift of time provides them the pleasure of their favorite foods. Seniors will provide you with a shopping list and payment for the groceries.
This is very flexible, just a couple of times a month. This would be a great family service experience; get the children involved in making a grocery list, shopping for the items and delivery. You might get a few great recipes out of this opportunity!

The mission of the NORTH END-SOUTH COMO BLOCK NURSE PROGRAM is to maintain levels of independence for our neighborhood seniors through the collaborative efforts of volunteers, professional staff and contracted in-home nursing services. Proudly helping neighborhood seniors since 1987
Description
We are a non-profit community based home-care agency supported by grants, city, county and state funding, and the generous donations of our neighbors.
It is our goal to have a volunteer readily available whenever a senior or their family member calls for help!
By bringing together volunteers and older people, we can serve as a bridge to building stronger communities, the same commuinities they helped to build. Stronger communities can in turn better meet the needs and develop the strengths of people living there now and in the future.
