English as a Second Language tutors/ teachers are needed for the Aquinas Literacy Center. We provide individualized, one-on-one goal based English language tutoring to a diverse group of adult students.
We have a great need for volunteer tutors.
All tutors need to undergo our 12 hour certification workshop. This consists of 2 sessions in May, the 1 and 2. The 1 we will meet from 6-9 PM and the 2 we will meet from 9 AM - 3 PM. Certification is provided through ProLiteracy America and has been used by several of our tutors as a stepping stone into ESL work domestic and abroad.
We ask that you meet with your adult student once a week for 90 minutes. This is a fantastic way to truly change people's lives. If you have any questions, or are interested in attending, please do not hesitate to contact Mary Catherine, (773) 927-0512 or aquinasoutreach@aol.com.

The Aquinas Literacy Center exists to offer individualized tutoring in the English language to area residents at no cost to the students. The Center accepts every race, color or creed. Our service is based on the expertise and experience of the Adrian Dominican Sisters and their continuing commitment to education.

Here at Aquinas Literacy Center we strive to help change lives word by word in an effort to help our students share their story and engage more fully in the world around them. We offer a variety of programming to help students in their learning. The Literacy Center is a place that offers hospitality, opportunity for education and learning, and a community of learners and supporters. We invite you to join us as a volunteer! In particular, Aquinas Literacy Center is seeking volunteers who can commit 90 minutes per week as an ESL tutor. Tutor training is provided, and knowledge of a second language is not necessary.
