Mission Statement

Operation Homefront's mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect.

Description

Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront's mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. We accomplish our mission through a range of impactful programs that provide relief, resiliency and recurring family support, designed to prevent short-term challenges from becoming chronic, long-term struggles. We provide relief through financial assistance and transitional housing programs, resiliency through permanent housing and caregiver programs and recurring family support through specialty programs. Each year, Operation Homefront serves tens of thousands of military families nationwide. Since inception, we have assisted nearly 35,000 military families providing more than $20M in critical financial assistance for those who had difficulty paying their mortgage, rent, grocery, utility, or repair bills; and provided over 4,300 months of rent-free housing to almost 500 families of wounded and injured transitioning service members. We have placed over 550 military families into mortgage-free homes, saving them more than $48M in mortgage costs and supported over 3,200 caregivers through peer-to-peer support groups. We have provided holiday toys for over 175,000 children, holiday meals for nearly 70,000 families and back-to-school supplies for well over a quarter-million family members. In 2016, we earned Charity Navigator’s prestigious 4-star rating for the ninth consecutive year and are working towards our Platinum rating from GuideStar.
