ABOUT THE SERVICE POSITION
Up2Us Coaches will engage youth utilizing the foundations of sports-based youth development in a variety of settings that include traditional recreation centers, schools, and community based programs.
Service Start Date: August 1st, 2015
Service End Date: Will vary based on organizational placement; no later than July 14, 2016.
Service Commitment: 900 hours
Service Benefits:
- Living Stipend: $7,700.00 (AmeriCorps Coach position only) or $9,090.00
- Segal AmeriCorps Education Award: $2,822.00 (AmeriCorps only & to be utilized for student loans or college tuition) or End of Service Award: $1,000.00
- Student Loan Deferement in some cases
- Sports-Based Youth Development Certification
- Ongoing professional development
ABOUT UP2US
Up2Us is a coalition of more than 700 nonprofit organizations that believe in the power of sports to fight childhood obesity, end academic failure, and reduce gang participation. Up2Us provides its coalition members with resources, services, and technical assistance that help them better deliver and expand quality sports-based youth development programming in some of the nation’s most underserved communities. Up2Us’ flagship program is Coach Across America (CAA), a national coach/mentor program that places, trains, and supports coaches to provide meaningful experiences to youth in a variety of sports programs nationwide. This year, CAA will place 400 coaches in 150 communities to positively impact 50,000 children and youth. https://www.up2us.org
The Up2Us Sports Coach positions are sponsored by the Corporation of National & Community Service, Laureus Sport for Good, and Nike. This position is not a salary and/or job position. It is a service opportunity which includes a living stipend and an end of service term award.
