Natasha the Kitsap Humane Society dog

Kitsap Humane Society is in need of volunteers who are available to come and walk our shelter dogs in the mornings between 7:00am and 9:00am. These morning potty breaks are essential to keeping these homeless dogs happy and healthy, so morning dog walkers make a huge impact on the lives of the dogs at Kitsap Humane Society! We have dogs of all sizes that need morning walks, so you can choose to only walk small dogs if you prefer, or you can walk large dogs as well- it is completely up to you. Become a morning dog walker and help save the lives of these neglected, abused, and abandoned dogs who are just looking for love and a forever home!

Mission Statement

KHS MISSION AND VISION

Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) is a nonprofit charitable organization that depends upon the kindness and generosity of the community we serve in order to continue to care for companion animals in need. We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, consisting of local community and business leaders. We have been caring for animals in need since 1908 and envision a time when all adoptable pets have loving homes. We work toward this goal seven days a week through immediate care and sheltering of thousands of companion animals who are homeless, lost, ill and in need of an advocate. We affect the number of unwanted animals by spaying and neutering all animals we adopt out to new homes and by offering a low-cost spay/neuter program for pets in our community.

Our Animal Rescue and Enforcement Officers are committed to enforcing county and city ordinances for the safety of people and animals and taking appropriate action in cases of animal cruelty and neglect. KHS is also devoted to educating the public on animal welfare issues and how to better care for their pets.

Simply put, KHS cares. We are immensely grateful for the dedication of our amazing staff, volunteers, contributors and many other friends.

Our Mission Statement: Kitsap Humane Society is an independent nonprofit committed to providing positive life-changing solutions to people and companion animals. We do so by:

 Accepting, sheltering and rehabilitating companion animals in need.

 Providing humane rescue, protection, prevention, adoption and education services.

 Implementing progressive life-saving and life-affirming programs.

 Collaborating and partnering with our region and supporters to build a model humane community.

Rescue. Rehabilitate. Rehome.

Our Vision Statement: Our vision is that every adoptable companion animal has a home.

Description

The Kitsap Humane Society is an open-admission animal shelter that maintains a 94% lives-saved rate. KHS rehomes over 4,000 companion animals per year through adoptions.

KHS volunteers donate over 30,000 hours per year helping shelter animals!
