We are the future of sustainable energy in Alabama. The Alabama Center for Sustainable Energy (ALCSE) is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and analytical self-starter to join us as an Expert Educator for Energy! As an Expert Educator for Energy, you will help create, edit, and update a new sustainable energy curriculum for both the K-5 the 9th-12th grade levels AND/OR you will deliver curriculum at locations throughout Madison County, AL. You'll make the essential connections between our mission and the education of our community’s children, in other words, our future. Please submit a cover letter telling us why you are THE BEST fit.
Compensation and Benefits:
- This is an unpaid volunteer position. We will work with your schedule!
- College credit is available to those eligible.
- Please bring your computer daily.
- Pranks are encouraged.
Key Results Areas:
- Develop measurable learning objectives about sustainable energy as it relates to the construction trades, business and finance, project management, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and the home.
- Design a pre-test and a post-test to measure changes in knowledge, awareness, skills, behaviors, and attitudes of students.
- Collaborate with local education professionals to adapt and possibly update current curriculum for use in the field of sustainable energy.
- Determine data to collect to inform the evaluation process.
- Assist with the formative, summative, and longitudinal evaluation of the curriculum.
- Create an online wiki to host the curriculum.
- Submit the final product to the Open Education Consortium.
- Deliver sustainable energy curriculum in Madison County, AL including pre and post evaluation
About You:
- Evidence-based passion for sustainable energy
- Exceptionally good verbal and communication skills
- Strong understanding of and experience with effective educational methods
- Ability to synthesize complex information into simple, clear communications
- Comfortable absorbing ALCSE's culture and directing our voice through education
- Self-motivated and capable of taking initiative to find solutions
- Previous experience developing curriculum a plus
