Trying on new shoes

Project Hawai'i, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that provides year round services to help enhance the lives of homeless children on the islands of Hawai'i. Our agency is run 100% by volunteers and solely supported by public donations. With that in mind our programs succeeds because of the community support.

Our summer camp program is a vital part of the over all success of our mission...to help these children escape their cycle of poverty. We strive to help them end homelessness within their own lives and future families.

Statistics show that children who grow up in poverty situations do not have the opportunities and access to the community supportive services.

Due to lack of nutrition and stimulation at home, these children do not develop at the "normal" rate, and will likely never leave their few mile area of camp. Our camp provides what these children are missing in their daily lives. We help to prepare them to succeed in school.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Depending on what your groups goals are, and how many hours or days you are seeking to volunteer, we have options for you to acheive those goals.

We do require a minimum of 3 hours during one day to complete a collection drive/fundraiser for our camp needs. For those groups who need 3 days or more for approx. 3 hours each, we can arrange an activity and/or lunch at camp with our homeless children and your youth group. Detail will be provided upon your request and confirmation of dates, etc.

We have openings for those on Spring Break and Summer Break. Since we run a summer camp for homeless children on two islands, our summer dates are limited. Please secure your dates now. Mahalo

YOUR GROUP CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN OUR HOMELESS CHILDREN'S LIVES.

For groups on the islands already, you can also help by conducting collections prior to camp. Please email for details.

Description

Project Hawai'i, Inc., is a nonprofit organization run 100% by volunteers to enhance the lives of children living in poverty situations on the islands of Hawai'i. Our public supported charity works year round to provide necessities to children living in substandard housing situations, such as tents on the waters edge, abandon vehicles, and make-shift structures hidden in the bushes and hills.

Our agency provides children with holiday parties, meals and services for all the major holidays including Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Other monthly services include providing emergency support, hygiene, food, clothing and outreach to the children living in homeless situations on 3 of the islands of Hawai'i, the Big Island (Hawai'i), Mau'i and O'ahu.

Project Hawai'i also provides educational and nutritional programs that include after school reading and tutoring programs and our summer camp activities. Children will also receive full back to school support from new backpacks filled with supplies, new outfits, and shoes. We also provide other educational needs throughout the year.

Project Hawai'i Summer Camp has ran for 15 years and won several dozen awards in nutrition and educational support. This program is our largest endevor and evolves year after to year to include even more learning opportunities to our keiki.
